SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Sustainable development provides a framework under which leaders in business, communities, government, public interest organisations can create efficient infrastructures and  respond with innovative solutions to sustainability issues in business and industry. The challenge of the 21st century is to define the  business strategy that strikes the balance between the use of  economic, environmental and cultural resources. Sustainable development is more than just an ethical concept – businesses have to play proactive roles in finding solutions to sustainability issues –  waste reduction, energy efficiency and pollution prevention make economic sense.  In the light of the new and complex problems created by economic development the business manager will be introduced to the concept of Sustainable Development -  Definitions, Principles, Success Stories, Tools, and Indicators.
